Official Community Plan Update
The District of Hope has completed the initial draft of the new Official Community Plan (OCP)! With both Round 1 & Round 2 of community engagement now complete, the draft OCP reflects extensive feedback from residents, stakeholders, and local First Nations.
Here are the key themes that shaped the direction of the plan:
Preserve and Enhance Community Character
Protect and strengthen Hope’s unique mountain town identity, viewscapes, and natural environment.
Support Community Well-Being
Support healthcare access, address climate change impacts, and integrate First Nations history and culture meaningfully throughout the community.
Attract Residents and Businesses
Grow tourism, diversify the local economy, and encourage a broader mix of housing and employment opportunities.
Strengthen Downtown Vibrancy
Develop Downtown into a high-quality, attractive, mixed-use cultural hub with cohesive design and a strong sense of place.
Promote Compact Land Use
Encourage growth within established urban areas, optimize use of existing infrastructure, and support infill development.
Improve Multi-Modal Connectivity
Expand and connect active transportation networks, improve pedestrian safety, and support accessible transit options.
