Transportation and Roads

Hope’s road network is made up of municipally and provincially maintained streets and highways. Our roads are an essential part of our community and help ensure people and goods can move around our community safely and efficiently.

Maintenance and upgrades on most major and local roads are managed by the District. This includes snow removal, ice control, pothole repairs, line painting, traffic signals, sign repairs, and litter pick up. The District also operates the Pavement Management Program through its Capital Construction plan to ensure timely investments in new paving. New roads are added to our network through development as the community grows.

2025 Integrated Transportation Master Plan

The Integrated Transportation Master Plan (ITMP) outlines a bold vision for a safer, more connected, and sustainable transportation future in the District of Hope. Explore the plan's goals and key initiatives in the full document to see how we’re shaping the future of mobility. See the report by clicking here.

Snow Removal & Priority Map

Winter maintenance is a key part of keeping our transportation network safe. The District uses a priority-based system to determine snow and ice clearing during winter weather.

Road Priorities:

1st Priority: Arterial routes, school zones, and emergency access routes
2nd Priority: Collector roads
3rd Priority: Local neighbourhood streets

Sidewalks in key areas; including Municipal Hall, Library, Fire Halls, Rec Centre, downtown core, school zones, bridge walkways, and major pathways - are cleared as staffing allows. Property owners are responsible for clearing the sidewalks in front of their homes or businesses.
