Tax Rates
Each January, BC Assessment mails property owners an assessment notice showing the estimated market value of their property as of July 1 of the previous year. Property assessments are prepared by BC Assessment and are used as one factor in calculating property taxes.
Each year, the District of Hope sets municipal tax rates through the annual budget process. Tax rates are established to generate the revenue required to fund municipal programs, services, and infrastructure, and must be adopted by May 15 each year.
The annual tax rate schedule outlines the municipal tax rates for each property class and can be used to estimate the municipal portion of your property taxes. Please note that your total property tax notice also includes taxes collected on behalf of other taxing authorities, such as the Province of British Columbia, school districts, and regional organizations.
