FireSmart & Wildfire Preparedness

Living in a forested community means wildfire preparedness is an important part of protecting our homes, properties, and neighbourhoods.

FireSmart is a nationally recognized program that helps residents reduce wildfire risk through practical, proven actions around homes, businesses, farms, and community spaces. Research shows that homes and properties that incorporate FireSmart principles are more likely to withstand a wildfire and are safer for firefighters to defend.

The District of Hope is committed to building a more wildfire-resilient community through education, assessments, funding opportunities, and hands-on support programs. Whether you're a homeowner, property owner, farmer, rancher, or community group, FireSmart programs can help you identify risks and take meaningful steps to reduce them.
