♻️ Hope's Recycling is Heading in the Right Direction!
Great news! Our latest Recycle BC curbside recycling audit shows a significant improvement in recycling quality. Hope's incompatible material rate has dropped from 25.4% to 14.0%... a positive step forward that reflects the efforts of our community.
While we're making great progress, there's still room for improvement.
The most common issues identified in the audit included:
🚫 Bagged or unsortable materials
🚫 Durable plastic items (toys, storage bins, etc.)
🚫 Flexible plastic packaging that doesn't belong in curbside recycling
🚫 Scrap metal and other non-accepted items
A few simple habits can help us keep improving:
✔ Place recyclables loose in your cart (never in bags)
✔ Keep durable plastics and scrap metal out of curbside recycling
✔ Empty and rinse containers before recycling
✔ Check what belongs before tossing it in
Remember, The Hope Bottle Depot (517A Corbett Street) accepts beverage containers, end-of-life electronics, and small appliances.
Every correctly sorted item helps reduce contamination, improve worker safety, and ensure more materials are successfully recycled.
👏 Thank you, Hope, for helping make a difference. Let's keep the momentum going! ♻️
