Non-Medical Cannabis Information
New Information: At the 6:30 pm November 4, 2019 Committee of the Whole Meeting (C/W), Council will be reviewing and discussion information pertaining to the sale of legalized Cannabis within the District of Hope. The C/W Meeting will be held at the District of Hope Municipal Office, 325 Wallace Street, Hope, BC.
At the August 27, 2018 Regular Council Meeting Council directed staff to proceed with a Cannabis Survey,mirroring the one produced by Abbotsford. The purpose of the survey was to obtain the views of the residents and businesses within the District of Hope. A full copy of the report to Council, along with the survey results are attached for viewing.
Currently the District of Hope is not entertaining or approving any planning or business related approvals allowing the retail sale or dispensing of marijunana, as well as the sale of marijuana-linked paraphernalia.
Next steps: The results of the survey will be presented to the newly elected Council for their review and direction. Staff will be reviewing any Federal or Provincail rulings or regulations to look at amending any necessary District of Hope bylaws or implementing bylaws, if approval from Council is given to move forward.
A reminder that the District's Smoking Control Bylaw also applies to the use of Cannabis.
