2019 Permissive Tax Exemptions
A permissive tax exemption is a means for Council to support organizations within the community which further Council’s objectives of enhancing quality of life and delivery of services economically. New Applications from organizations which meet the criteria set out in the District’s policy must be submitted to the Director of Finance using the prescribed application form before July 31st each year.
Please note, applicants currently exempted under the five year 2015 – 2019 Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw 1355, 2014 or the two year 2018 – 2019 Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw 1401, 2017 need not re-apply until July 30, 2019.
New applications are also being accepted for properties which surround buildings used for public worship, which are exempt under section 220(1)(h), and the halls that are necessary to the exempt buildings and the land on which the halls stand on and an area of land surrounding the halls, are hereby exempted from taxation as per section 224(2)(f) of the Community Charter.
Please note, applicants currently exempted under the 10 year 2015-2024 Permissive Tax Exemption Bylaw 1356, 2014 need not re-apply until July 30, 2024.
