History
The District of Hope Fire Department was formally created in 1999 with the amalgamation of the Kawkawa Lake; Flood, Laidlaw, Silver Creek; and Hope Volunteer Fire Departments. Today these three fire halls serve the municipality and surrounding areas providing fire suppression and emergency response as well as public education and safety training. The department consists of a paid Fire Chief along with volunteer firefighters. Firefighters practice weekly on Thursday nights and new recruits are accepted once annually for basic training.
